Earlier this year, WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin shockingly came out to retirement, taking on Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match in the main event of Night 1 of Wrestlemania 38. The bout was the Texas Rattlesnake’s first in over 19 years, and he seemingly enjoyed the experience, as immediately following the match, reports emerged that Austin was open to the idea of working more matches in the future.
Fightful Select have now provided an update on the prospect of the Attitude Era star lacing up the boots again soon. Austin recently shared a video of him working out, sparking rumours that he’s preparing for another return to the ring. Fightful have now confirmed that WWE are indeed interested in bringing Austin back for another match, noting that an offer has been made since the recent regime change.
“Specifically, we’re told that while the Vince McMahon regime had hoped to have Austin come back to do another match, that the Triple H regime had actually made an offer for Austin to do another match.
-Fightful
The sources that we spoke to weren’t sure if that meant for a Saudi Arabia match, WrestleMania, or anything else, but that there was an offer. Those sources presumed it was for WrestleMania in LA, but wouldn’t confirm that or a potential opponent.”
Additionally, Fightful stated that one source indicated that initially Austin and WWE were far apart on terms, although the the fact that the former multi-time world champion appears to be getting back into in-ring shape may indicate that these issues have now been resolved.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any updates on the potential location and opponent for Austin’s possible return to the ring as soon as we hear more.
