NXT’s TV tapings could reportedly be moving away from Orlando.
From, its beloved black and gold days to its rebrand as ‘NXT 2.0’, WWE’s third brand has experienced a lot of changes in recent years. Throughout the 2010s, the show would focus on bringing in the best talent from elsewhere, seeing the likes of Kevin Owens, Finn Balor and Samoa Joe pass through the system. Though, in 2021, the brand looked more in favour of homegrown performers and building their own stars.
Throughout all its eras, NXT has always had its roots in Orlando. In its early days, the company would reside in Full Sail University, only venturing out for their ‘TakeOver’ specials, which is something they have recently reverted to since the pandemic.
However, as written by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer, it’s said that there has at least been talks of taking NXT tapings elsewhere, with only the merger slowing any changes to WWE’s shows.
“There is talk of taping television outside of Orlando and running house shows outside of Florida but in smaller venues like NXT did when it toured before the pandemic. We were told the merger not being finalized is holding up major changes happening but there is talk of at least exploring major changes for Raw with new ideas when the merger takes place.”

Recently, we’ve seen main roster stars compete on NXT, with Seth Rollins and Baron Corbin among those that have been mixing it up with some of the development brand’s best talent. An increased presence of main roster names squaring off against NXT performers may prompt WWE to attempt to move the show from a fixed location going forward.
