AEW’s Andrade is reportedly heading to CMLL to tick off a return to the company in case he goes to WWE.
Andrade has been with All Elite Wrestling since June 2021, however there have constantly been questions regarding his future. He has suffered a fair few injuries during his time working under Tony Khan, and there has been speculation over some backstage unrest on his part throughout the years.
To openly discuss Andrade’s future, as well as his upcoming return to CMLL, Dave Meltzer has said on Wrestling Observer Radio that the 34-year-old will be going back to CMLL in the near future, something that was teased by the promotion last weekend.
“He’s going back to CMLL, not sure exactly what week but probably relatively soon. On Friday night’s Arena Mexico show they did a tease of him going back. He had talked to AAA about going back there, and decided to go to CMLL.
“I think he just wanted to do it because that’s where he started. Because there’s no real money, even though CMLL’s drawing big crowds, there’s no real money being paid by CMLL. And Andrade actually charges a lot for his appearances in Mexico, so I think it’s just something that he wants to do.

Interestingly, Meltzer notes that Andrade’s AEW contract is believed to be coming to an end soon and that the CMLL return could be the Mexican star ticking off another appearance for his home promotion in case he goes to WWE in the coming months.
“And his deal is coming up relatively soon unless it’s extended or something because of time off for injuries or whatever, but he thinks that his deal’s up pretty soon. So he wanted to go back (to CMLL) in case he ends up going to WWE.
“He’s not made a decision on what he’s doing next, he’s not signed a new deal. But if he does go to WWE, he knows he can’t go back to Arena Mexico. (His AEW deal is up) he believes relatively soon. My impression is that it’s up relatively soon.”

Currently, Andrade embroiled in the company’s first ever Continental Classic Tournament and is regularly featuring on weekly TV as a competitor in the blue block, though, with his contract seemingly expiring soon, it may not be long before he looks to make a move back to WWE.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Andrade and his future as we hear more.
