In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that the belief in All Elite Wrestling is that Mercedes Moné will be starting with the company soon.

Moné has been out of wrestling since last summer after suffering a leg injury in a match against Willow Nightingale for the Strong Women’s Championship at NJPW’s Independence Day show. With her time in NJPW and Stardom seemingly coming to an end, she has once again become one of the most in-demand free agents on the market. She reportedly negotiated with WWE on a return, though those talks fell through. Today, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided a brief update on her status.

“Moné was doing acting work but there is talk her debut will be played up extremely big and that announcement could be soon. She has been back training to return to the ring. Her coming to AEW was expected for months, even before they showed her at Wembley. But she did negotiate with WWE after that and while they were far apart on money, unless the contract is signed, nothing is a lock.”

Moné signing with AEW would be another big get for the company, as they’ve recently signed Jay White, Will Ospreay, Deonna Purrazzo, Mariah May, and are reported to be in the running for Kazuchika Okada’s services following his announcement that he would be leaving NJPW after 17 years.

As always, we will aim to provide updates on Moné’s status, whether with AEW or another company, as we get them.
