‘The CEO’ may soon be All Elite.

During last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, it was revealed that Tony Khan is set to make a major announcement on the February 7th episode of Dynamite next week, which in turn fueled speculation regarding a number of high-profile free agents, namely the former IWGP Women’s Champion, Mercedes Moné.

Fightful Select & Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast have now provided an insight into the nature of the announcement, reporting that it was implied to them that it will relate to Mercedes’ impending arrival, although it was not stated that Moné would be outright mentioned, with the belief being that she’ll appear for the company in March following the Revolution PPV.

“While no one will confirm, it was implied that it was related to the impending appearance of Mercedes Mone in AEW. However, we were not told that her signing would be outright mentioned as a part of the rumored announcement. However, what we have heard from numerous talent is that they’ve been told within the company and from those close to Mercedes that the working plan in All Elite Wrestling is for her to physically appear for the company in March, likely after the Revolution PPV. We have not been told when she could make an in-ring wrestling debut for the company.”

Additionally, the report states that Fightful were informed that her arrival was never planned to be announced during last Saturday’s Collision, despite a previous report from Dave Meltzer suggesting that was the case.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp was told this weekend by numerous sources within WWE that they were aware that they were out on Mercedes by December 29th, with a Royal Rumble appearance having seemingly not been on the cards regardless.

WWE sources and AEW talent that spoke to Fightful and Zarian were said to be under the impression that Mercedes has been signed to AEW for weeks, although the confirm any elements of this story in an official capacity.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Mercedes Moné as soon as we hear more.
