Rocky Romero reportedly has a new role.
In the world of professional wrestling, few people are as important as Rocky Romero. He is still active as an in-ring competitor, but is also a key figure uniting different wrestling companies from across the world, including work with AEW, NJPW and CMLL. Now, Romero’s role has reportedly expanded yet again.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that Rocky Romero has been promoted to a Vice President for New Japan Pro Wrestling, meaning he now holds the position for both NJPW and AEW.
“Rocky Romero has been promoted to Vice President, which makes him one of the few people in wrestling history to be Vice Presidents of two major companies at the same time, as he holds a VP position in AEW.”
-Dave Meltzer
The report notes that his full title is Vice President of Show & Talent Coordination for New Japan of America, with it said that Rocky has essentially been booking NJPW’s US shows for a while. Romero’s new role is reflective of the important work he does across multiple promotions.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Rocky Romero becoming an NJPW Vice President as soon as we hear more.
