Powerhouse Hobbs has reportedly suffered an injury.
While most of the headlines heading out of this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite centred around The Elite’s attack on Tony Khan, the show featured some stellar in-ring action, including Jon Moxley’s first defence of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship as he put NJPW’s top title on the line against Powerhouse Hobbs. However, it appears as if the challenger didn’t escape the clash unscathed.
Per Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, Powerhouse Hobbs is believed to have suffered a legitimate injury in his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match against Jon Moxley. In particular, it’s said that the injury occurred when the 33-year-old collided with the turnbuckle.
“If you watched the show last night, that was not a worked knee injury. He went for a high cross or something and smashed into the turnbuckles and injured his knee. He could barely walk, and he hopped his way back into the ring, hopped into like two spots, and got choked out. There was more they were going to do.”

As of yet, there is no indication as to how long the former TNT Champion will be absent from the ring. Of course, we wish Powerhouse Hobbs the best with his recovery and hope to see him competing again as soon as possible.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Powerhouse Hobbs’ injury status as soon as we hear more.
