More has emerged regarding Stephanie Vaquer signing with WWE.

On July 10, news broke that Stephanie Vaquer had elected to terminate her contracts with both CMLL and NJPW amid speculation over her future. There was believed to be interest from both WWE and AEW, although it later emerged that WWE was the frontrunner to land the 31-year-old, and her arrival to the company was later confirmed by Shawn Michaels via social media.

In an update per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that WWE were aware of AEW’s offer to ‘La Primera’ and subsequently made a strong offer to Vaquer on July 7.

“One person in WWE said she was offered “a tremendous contract” on 7/7 because they were aware of the AEW offer.”

With both companies looking to sign the former CMLL World Women’s Champion, Meltzer noted that Vaquer immediately prioritised a move to WWE and didn’t seriously consider the approach made to her by AEW.

“It was reported during the week that both AEW and WWE were interested. Several sources close to the situation said that she didn’t seriously consider AEW.”

Vaquer has since cancelled all external dates she had been lined up for in the near future, including bookings both domestically and overseas. It’s mentioned that WWE will likely introduce their newest signing to the audience at their upcoming Mexico City show on July 13 and that she will be assigned to the NXT brand once she arrives on-screen.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Stephanie Vaquer’s WWE move as soon as we hear more.
