Big E has discussed the possibility of a WWE in-ring return.
It has now been over two years since Big E suffered a serious injury which left fans wondering if he’d ever wrestle again. He suffered a fractured C1 and C6 vertebrae following a belly-to-belly suplex which saw him take the brunt of the impact on his neck, and, of course, the focus has been on his health and recovery, but there is always curiosity regarding his in-ring future.
Speaking on Getting Over, Big E provided a general update on how he’s currently feeling and the progress that has been made regarding his recovery. In terms of whether he’d ever get the go ahead to return to wrestling, he revealed that it’s a case of waiting to see if his C1 vertebrae ossifies and turns into a new bone.
“Now we’re at two years and running since I broke my neck. I broke my C1 in two places, my C6 as well. I feel great. I have no issues with pain, no issues with discomfort, weakness, any of those things. My strength is great. The only issue is my C1 is healing fibrously, which is great for normal day-to-day life, but it’s not turning into new bone and ossifying yet. They’re not going to clear me until that happens. It’s obviously a very important bone. Right now, that is the waiting game. I did go to Cancun about a month ago for stem cells. We’ll see if that changes anything. Right now, I feel great, I’m just not in a position to be cleared quite yet,”

The Powerhouse of Positivity has been sorely missed in the ring, but he’s stayed a part of WWE via pre-show panels and countdown shows before Premium Live Events, and he even stepped through the ropes prior to Money in the Bank. On this, Big E stated how happy he was to receive love from the live crowd.
“It was cool. It was just a little hit for the countdown show. The cool part for me was, even though there weren’t a ton of fans in the arena, getting some love again was very very cool. It’s nice being back. It’s something that I’ve been doing for 15 years and it feels like a second home in many ways,”

Of course, the most important aspect to the situation is his health, and it’s relieving news to hear that Big E is not suffering any discomfort, pain or weakness from the incident he suffered over two years ago. We continue to wish him all the best in his recovery, and hope to continue seeing him appear for WWE in any possible capacity going forward.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Big E’s recovery as soon as we hear more.
