There is reportedly no agreement between AEW and WBD as of yet.
With speculation mounting over the future of AEW’s media rights, it was rumoured earlier this week that Tony Khan had reached an agreement in principle with the broadcasting company to extend their terms. However, a new update suggests that a new deal isn’t as close as first thought.
Per Fightful Select, it’s clarified that there is no imminent announcement being planned by either company, and that the framework of the deal is yet to be agreed.
“Fightful Select sources close to WBD’s stance say there is nothing “imminent,” meaning over the next few days. Either company is not planning to announce a new deal imminently, and we’re told the framework of a deal has not been agreed to by both sides.”

On any further negotiations, it’s noted that both Tony Khan and David Zaslav are set to be in Paris for the summer Olympics, where they will meet to hold additional talks over a potential deal.
“Tony Khan and David Zaslav are both scheduled to be in Paris for the Olympics, and plan to meet, sources close to the situation tell Fightful Select. This meeting has been planned for months, but it was stressed that it’s not a guarantee they’ll reach a deal there.”

Despite this, both sides do expect an agreement to be reached, and for their relationship to remain amicable into the future. As of now, though, it seems as if an announcement of an extended media rights deal for AEW will come later down the road.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on any potential deal between AEW and WBD as soon as we hear more.
