At present, we are just six days away from AEW All In: London, and, as such, it’s possible that we may be in the last week of Bryan Danielson’s career. ‘The American Dragon’ will be forced to hang up his boots if he doesn’t defeat Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at Wembley Stadium, and he’ has now commented on the prospect of retirement should he lose this Sunday.
Speaking on BBC Sounds, Danielson has revealed that he is at peace with his career ending at Wembley Stadium, as he looks to break a streak of 19 unsuccessful title matches.
“Yeah, I’m very much at peace with it. If I wasn’t at peace with it, we wouldn’t of done that (laughs). But I also think, I’ve been wrestling for 25 years now at this point, and to me it’s now or nothing as far as winning the AEW Championship. I came in and said I was gonna kick people’s heads in and win the AEW World Championship — I think it was Alex Marvez, — he’s our guy that knows all the stats and stuff like that. He said, ‘I dont know if you know this, you’ve lost… even going back to WWE, haven’t won a title match in my last 19 attempts.’ So it’s like, I’m at peace with it.”

Comparing it to his previous retirement, Bryan discussed how his life is different now to when he was forced to step away from the ring in 2016, citing his family as the reason why he’d be okay with potentially hanging up his boots.
“My life is different now. When I was forced to retire I wasn’t ready. — at that point I’m 35 years old and I’m just like this doesn’t feel right, and I also didn’t have anything else to really put my focus and attention towards. And now I do. I have a wonderful family. — it’s a very different place when it’s by choice rather than when you’re forced.”

Whether Danielson will be retired this time next week remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt he has had a legendary career to this point and is one of the greatest to ever step between the ropes. Regardless of his immediate future and how open he seems to be to retirement, there will be many heading to Wembley this Sunday hoping he walks out as the new AEW World Champion.
