Nigel McGuinness has addressed his in-ring future.

At AEW All In 2024, those inside Wembley Stadium were utterly stunned to see Nigel McGuinness come out of retirement to enter the Casino Gaunlet. It came just under 13 years after his last match, and, exactly a month after his return, McGuinness delighted fans by stepping into the ring with his rival Bryan Danielson in the latest instalment of their rivalry. Now, the Brit has discussed whether he plans to wrestle again.

While appearing on Talk Is Jericho, Y2J asked McGuinness whether there was a chance we see him compete even more before his career is definitively over. Here, Nigel admitted that there’s certainly a chance he wrestles again, and he’s open to the possibility, but that he’s okay if he doesn’t step into the ring for a match again.

“There’s always a chance, certainly now that I’ve realized — I don’t want to say it’s not as difficult as I thought it was, because it is obviously very difficult, but I think I didn’t give myself enough credit for being able to do it and I think I listened to too many people. I said it in a promo recently, you hear that nobody knows you used to be a wrestler enough and you start to believe it. One day, the voice telling you is your own. One day, you realize it was your voice all along and nobody else gave a shit. I’m at that stage now where I feel eternally blessed enough to get back in the ring and I love it, I enjoy it. Not just to be back in the ring, but here today before we taped this, I was out there in the ring rolling around with Lee Moriarty and Bryan Keith, they’re always there early so we get in, we do a little bit of stuff, I learn as much from them as they do from me as well. Certainly I’m open to the possibility, but if I don’t wrestle again, that’s okay as well. I’ve had closure. We’ll see what happens.”

Of course, many fans will still be very keen to see McGuinness lace up his boots a few more times before he calls it a career, but whether that happens remains to be seen. Should it happen, there are many top competitors on the AEW roster who would love the opportunity to work with McGuinness, and his colour commentary career has left him with a myriad of different storylines to potentially explore.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Nigel McGuinness’ in-ring future as soon as we hear more.
