Bryan Danielson is reportedly set for an MRI to assess his health.
At last Saturday’s WrestleDream pay-per-view, Bryan Danielson lost the AEW World Championship to Jon Moxley in emphatic fashion, and, as such, the loss spelled the end of his illustrious full-time career. Now, following his title-match defeat, an update has emerged on Danielson’s future and current condition.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that Bryan is set for an MRI to assess the damage to his neck, with it possible the 43-year-old could require surgery if stem cell treatment wouldn’t be enough.
“As far as what happens with Danielson involves the state of his neck. He is going to have an MRI done to see the damage. He had an MRI done not too long ago and it showed damage all the way down his neck. What happens next depends on if the level of damage is the same as it was or if it has worsened, and if not, by how much. The hope is that he won’t need surgery and can heal up strong enough with stem cell treatment therapy. But if not, he’ll have to undergo surgery.”

After a 25-year career, including his time spent in AEW, Danielson is undoubtedly among the greatest wrestlers of all time, and, while his full-time career is over, Danielson isn’t entirely retired and may well compete again if he’s medically able. As it stands, it’s unclear as to when, or even if, ‘The American Dragon’ will step back between the ropes, and we wish him the best when it comes to his condition.
