NXT were reportedly unable to book the Hammerstein Ballroom.

On November 6, NXT came to Philadelphia, being held at the 2300 Arena (formerly the ECW Arena) in front of a sold out crowd. It featured many ECW names of the past, with the venue making for a unique feel to the show, and now it seems as if WWE are looking at another historic venue for their third brand.

Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that NXT attempted to book a show at the Hammerstein Ballroom off the back of their recent success at the 2300 Arena, but the date wanted was too closed to that already booked by Tony Khan, with ROH using it for Final Battle this December.

“NXT attempted to book a date at the Hammerstein Ballroom to follow up on the 2300 Arena success. However the date they wanted was close enough to the dates Tony Khan had booked.”

Whether NXT return to the idea of wanting to emanate from the Hammerstein Ballroom in future remains to be seen, though it seems they remain keen on unique venues for one-off events. It’s also noted that there’s talk within the company of making an ECW-themed show a yearly tradition going forward.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on NXT’s future events as soon as we hear more.
