Malakai Black could be finished with AEW.

Following the opening match of last night’s AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay took the microphone and offered praise to Buddy Matthews, saying the Australian didn’t need to work under Malakai Black and could be a singles star in his own right. This left fans wondering as to why Matthews was seemingly being encouraged to separate himself from the House of Black. Now, an update has emerged suggesting that the faction could be without its leader in the near future.

Per Fightful Select, some within AEW are reportedly of the belief that Malakai Black is finishing up with the company, if he hasn’t already.

Those that we spoke to in the company were of the belief that he was finishing up with AEW if he hadn’t already. They did not clarify if he’d be appearing on TV again.”

As of now, Black remains listed on AEW’s official roster page, and Tony Khan has previously stated that the 39-year-old is under contract until 2027, but his future with the company currently seems all but certain. There remains no official confirmation over Black’s status, but the situation is certainly one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Malakai Black’s AEW future as soon as we hear more.
