Jay White’s injury is believed to be legitimate.
On last night’s AEW Dynamite, prior to the reveal of the respective brackets for this year’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments, the announcers clarified that Jay White had been attacked by the Death Riders and pulled from the competition. Given the emphasis ‘Switchblade’ had put on entering the Owen, many were surprised to see him be removed, however an update has emerged on why AEW had to write him off.
Per Fightful Select, it’s believed that Jay White suffered a legitimate injury before AEW Dynamite, leading to a storyline explanation being presented on the show.
“Fightful Select learned that White had sustained a legitimate injury ahead of Dynamite, but that a storyline reason was created to explain it. Fightful has confirmed the injury and that Jay White is expected to undergo surgery.”

As yet, there’s no word on the specifics of the injury or how long the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion will be sidelined, though his absence will certainly come as a blow for AEW moving forward. We wish Jay White the best with his recovery and look forward to see him return to the ring as soon as he’s able.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Jay White’s injury status as soon as we hear more.
