More has emerged regarding the promo segment between Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair.

On the April 4 edition of WWE SmackDown, fans saw Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton exchange personal jabs, with it later coming out that both women had reportedly gone off-script numerous times during the segment. Now, an update has emerged on how much of the promo went according to the script, as well as whether either woman has heat following their back-and-forth.

Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton have had backstage issues for weeks, although last week’s SmackDown segment mostly stuck to what was in the script.

“Flair and Stratton have had backstage issues for a few weeks. The feeling was in the dual camera segment a few weeks back, that Flair steamrolled her and made her look bad. Actually this segment was scripted with the idea of appearing to be retaliation as most of the lines delivered by Stratton, including the one about her being a failed volleyball player drinking in his father’s basement and how no matter how many titles she wins, she’ll never be Ric Flair and never win over the fans, were in the script. The promo was scripted to come off like a shoot. While there were reports how they went off script early, virtually the entire promo went as scripted.

In terms of the backstage reaction, it’s believed that both women had heat on them following the segment, with most of it falling on Charlotte.

We’ve heard from numerous people in the company and some stories are contradictory, but the consistent story is that there was heat on both of them when it was over, and more on Flair.”

-Dave Meltzer

Meltzer also noted that, according to a source, Charlotte’s continued attempts to rattle Tiffany Stratton were somewhat standard, with John Cena and Randy Orton given as examples of those who have previously done it to test up-and-coming talent. The pair are still set to clash at WrestleMania 41 in just 8 days time, with Flair looking to capture the WWE Women’s Championship in Las Vegas.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the reported issues between Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton ahead of WrestleMania as soon as we hear more.
