We may have seen the last of Jake Hager inside the squared circle.

Jake Hager has been absent from in-ring action since his loss to Connor Mills at BZW Alcatraz on November 2, 2024, with his AEW contract having reportedly expired earlier that year.

Speaking with fellow former AEW star Saraya on the latest episode of the Rulebreakers podcast, Hager revealed that he considers himself retired from professional wrestling and has started a trucking company.

“I’m getting out of wrestling. I’m pretty much — I could say I’m retired from it. I started a trucking company, running routes through Tampa and Florida. I’m not driving, not me, I got people driving. I’m excited, something to sink my teeth into.”

Hager worked a handful of independent dates following his AEW departure last year, but it now appears that his time as an active performer has drawn to a close.

Retirement from professional wrestling seemingly marks Hager’s exit from combat sports entirely, with the former Bellator heavyweight having announced his retirement from MMA back in September 2023.

The WWE Universe will best remember Hager as Jack Swagger, capturing the ECW Championship, United States Championship, and World Heavyweight Championship during his eleven-year tenure with the company.
