Could ‘Stone Cold’ compete at WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia?
Earlier this week, Saudi GEA Chairman Turki Alalshikhin inadvertently revealed that WrestleMania 43 will be heading to Saudi Arabia. Then, it emerged via reports that the those in talks to bring the ‘Show Of Shows’ to the country were eyeing up some big name clashes for WrestleMania’s first venture overseas, including ideas to temp certain wrestlers out of retirement. Now, an update has emerged on a major name that’s been discussed for the show.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that Steve Austin has been talked about for WrestleMania in 2027, although it’s mentioned that ‘The Rattlesnake’ is entirely happy with his match with Kevin Owens being his last.
“Another name that has been talked about is Steve Austin, who would be 62 at the time of the show. At this point Austin is yet to be confirmed. From the Saudi Arabia side, what they have been told by WWE and/or Austin is that he wants to make sure he is healthy and would be physically ready to do a match. Austin has great pride and was happy with the idea his match with Kevin Owens would be his last.”

It was also noted that Steve Austin previously turned down a spot at WrestleMania 40 when many fans expected him to be the one to take out ‘The Rock’ during Bloodlines Rules, a spot instead given to The Undertaker.
‘Stone Cold’ is undoubtedly one of the biggest icons in wrestling history, though whether we hear the glass shatter in Saudi Arabia remains to be seen.
Elsewhere within the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer revealed that negotiations are advancing to bring The Rock to Saudi Arabia for WrestleMania 43, which you can read more about here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia as soon as we hear more.
