Adam Copeland’s AEW absence is reportedly not related to WWE.
Following FTR’s attack on Beth Copeland (FKA Beth Phoenix) during their match with Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at All Out, it was revealed on Dynamite that ‘The Rated R Superstar’ was set to take some time away from the company. On-screen, the reason given was that the 51-year-old wanted to be with family, but a few online tentatively suggested that Copeland being written off AEW was to free him up to play a role in John Cena’s retirement tour in WWE. However, we now know that’s not the case.
Per PWInsider Elite, it’s believed that Adam Copeland’s upcoming AEW absence is to do with his acting career, not any link with WWE.
“A rumor claiming Adam Copeland was written off AEW TV last night to go wrestle John Cena on one of Cena’s final retirement matches in WWE is not even remotely true. It was said Copeland’s exit from storylines is in part due to his acting career, likely the latest season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”

Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland is one of Cena’s most famous rivals, with the pair having many iconic matches to look back on. However, with Cena having less than five free dates left before his career comes to a close, it appears their singles match on the September 20, 2010, edition of RAW will be their last.
As for Copeland’s time away from AEW, it’s currently unknown how long he’ll spend away from storylines, though it’s a positive that his absence is a matter of scheduling rather than any injury concerns.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Adam Copeland as soon as we hear more.
