Nigel McGuinness won’t be making the switch to full time.

At AEW All In 2024, Nigel McGuinness made his stunning return to the ring for the first time since 2011. Since then, the 49-year-old has competed in a further five matches, including adding another chapter to his legendary rivalry with Bryan Danielson. However, the Brit has now ruled out switching back to a full-time schedule.

Speaking with The Magic of Wrestling, McGuinness said he doesn’t see the benefit in wrestling full time.

“No, good lord no, my full years of wrestling are long, long, long gone. You could have asked me probably 10 years ago and I would’ve said the ship has truly sailed when it comes to me even wrestling again. I guess, truthfully, without AEW and specifically Tony Khan I would’ve never would have got this opportunity again. I don’t think there’s any benefit to me wrestling a full-time schedule. The sort of part-time schedule that I’m currently on, if an opportunity presents itself and it makes sense from a storyline perspective, then I’ll do it. I love doing it, but not full-time. There’s too many guys on the roster anyway, younger guys who deserve more of those spots than me. But if I can add a little bit of flavor, a little bit of spice to what else is going on with my experience, and the fact they see me on TV every week as a commentator, I think that’s the best way they can use me.”

Most recently, McGuinness stepped into the ring at Forbidden Door where he took on Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. While his next in-ring appearance remains unknown, the former ROH World Champion remains a regular commentator on AEW Collision every Saturday night.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Nigel McGuinness’ in-ring schedule as soon as we hear more.
