A meeting between Omega and ‘The Protostar’ has been put on hold.
On October 1 at AEW Dynamite’s 6 Year Anniversary, Kenny Omega teamed with Brodido to defeat the trio of The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander. After the match, Andrade made his return to AEW, attacking Omega and joining the Don Callis Family in the process.
While many now anticipate a clash between Kenny Omega and Andrade at AEW WrestleDream, Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Omega was originally slated to face Kyle Fletcher at the event.
“There is a reason that right now they aren’t going to do the match, as basically in a normal situation that would have been the match booked but Omega’s physical situation is not 100 percent and the feeling was it was better right now not to put Omega in the situation of the kind of a match he’d be expected to do with Fletcher. I was basically told in a perfect world that would be the match to do on this show, but it’s not a perfect world.”

AEW: WrestleDream is set to take place on October 18 at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri, with Kenny Omega vs. Andrade yet to be announced for the show at the time of writing.
Elsewhere within the Observer Newsletter, Meltzer revealed that Andrade’s AEW return was largely in part to the company seeking to build upon their growth in Mexico. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Kenny Omega’s status heading into WrestleDream as soon as we hear more.
