Scarlett says the way WWE handled contract negotiations was a red flag.
In August, the respective WWE contracts of Karrion Kross and Scarlett expired. After their exits, it was revealed the company had given the former NXT Champion 24 hours to accept their offer without offering any further information on their valuation, with the pair also noting that WWE weren’t prepared to open talks with Scarlett until they’d reached an agreement with Kross. Now, ‘The Smoke Show’ has discussed how she felt WWE’s negotiations with them came across as misogynistic.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Scarlett opened up on how WWE not wanting to negotiate her deal without securing an extension for Karrion Kross first felt misogynistic.
“So after you talked to the representative of talent relations about your contract. One of the last questions before the 24-hour notice was given, Kevin asked where I stood in all these contract negotiations. And they said, ‘We’ll get to her once we’re done with you,’ which I took as them using me as leverage against him. I do feel like if he agreed within the 24 hours that they would have offered me something, would it have been the same amount as it was before? Would it have been less? I don’t know. But all in all, it felt like a massive, massive red flag, and I did feel like it did come off a bit misogynistic, because originally I was hired before you, and the idea that I have no value without him, and it’s only determined by whether or not he signs, that came off as very misogynistic to me.”

The duo also recalled WWE wanting to separate their contract negotiations around the time Karrion to Monday Night RAW in 2021. After Kross appeared on the main roster without Scarlett, they were keen to ensure things went differently this year.
Elsewhere in the interview, Scarlett discussed how they would commit to AEW if they signed there. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Killer Kross and Scarlett as soon as we hear more.
