NXT Homecoming was Alexa Bliss’ TakeOver.
At NXT Homecoming on 16 September, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair successfully defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame. Bliss began her wrestling career in NXT in 2013, though during her three-year stint, she never had the opportunity to compete at an NXT TakeOver event before being called up to the main roster.
Speaking to In The Kliq in a new interview, Bliss reflected on her return to NXT at Homecoming, saying it felt like the TakeOver match she never had the chance to experience during her initial run.
“I unfortunately never had a TakeOver match, so this kind of felt like my TakeOver. It was fun, I liked the intimate crowd, and it was fun to kind of be in that kind of setting again because it’s such a different type of crowd. It’s the intimate setting, and it was cool being able to almost connect with every single person in the audience on some level. For me, that was my NXT TakeOver, it was fun, and I loved coming back and having a match in that capacity. It was fun to see the NXT talent and how talented they are, and to go against Izzi and Tatum was fun, and having a little moment with Tatum in the ring was really cool because we have the same kind of vibe and the doll. It was really fun. I remember when Nattie used to come back and have matches with the NXT talent in NXT and Alicia Fox, and how excited we were about those moments, and it was cool, it was like a fun full-circle moment.”

During last Friday’s episode of SmackDown, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair accepted ZaRuca’s challenge for a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match.
Elsewhere in the interview, Bliss revealed that the idea for her tag team with Charlotte Flair was her own pitch. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Alexa Bliss as soon as we hear more.
