Billy Gunn is dealing with two stress fractures.
Making his in-ring debut in 1989, Billy Gunn has over 35 years of professional wrestling experience. Joining AEW in 2019, the 61-year-old works as both a producer and an on-screen talent, most recently being paired with Anthony Bowens during his singles run. However, giving an update on his health, Gunn has now opened up on his current injury status.
Appearing on Fuel & Flex with Charlie William Parks, Billy Gunn revealed he’s currently dealing with two stress fractures in his back.
“I love to squat. I don’t know what it is. I’m not a huge squatter. I don’t know what it is. I love the feeling, I love the movement. But I have two stress fractures in my back that absolutely smoke me when I do it. I refuse not to do it. I’m not gonna do it. I found ways to make myself feel safer doing it just in case my back — every time I squat, I box squat. I just stretch and go, only because if something goes, I know that I have something that I can go to instead of going whoom! Trying to wipe out half the gym,”

Despite AEW teasing a reunion between Anthony Bowens and Max Caster, Gunn has been largely off-screen since the storyline began. While many may assume that his absence is related to this injury, the legend has stayed active in the ring for promotions such as 1FW and MLP as recently as September.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Billy Gunn’s injury status as soon as we hear more.
