Matt Hardy was okay with the use of AI on NXT.
On this week’s edition of NXT, fans witnessed Matt and Jeff Hardy enter the Lake of Reincarnation to revive their Broken Matt and Brother Nero personas. During the segment, AI was used in parts of the video to depict the duo’s respective transformations, and one-half of the current NXT Tag Team Champions has now commented on the inclusion of artificial intelligence in their vignette.
On his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt told Jon Alba that, given the nature of the segment, it was an ideal moment to integrate AI so fans could witness their reincarnation in a way that would not have been possible without the technology.
“It was interesting. It was cool how they were able to do that and give a look of how the transformation happens underneath the water where that’s always been left up to the imagination before. I was okay with it. If you’re going to use that, it was a decent time to use it,”

Matt was then asked whether he would use AI to write his promos, remarking that he isn’t interested in doing so.
“I’m still writing mine. My wife is current with that stuff, but I have no interest in any of it. Technology has already dumbed us down way too much as it is.”

The Hardys currently hold four sets of tag team gold, having added the NXT, House of Glory and 4th Rope Tag Team Championships to their TNA World Tag Team Titles over the past few weeks. Most recently, Matt and Jeff defeated Team 3D in a tables match at Bound For Glory.
Artificial intelligence’s presence in WWE appears to be expanding, with recent reports highlighting the company’s use of AI in their creative process. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on WWE’s usage of AI as soon as we hear more.
