The former NXT Champion has been pitched for a main roster call up.

Oba Femi’s reign as NXT Champion came to an end at No Mercy on September 27 at the hands of Ricky Saints, bringing his 263-day run to a close. Following the loss, many fans believe it is the right time for WWE to call ‘The Ruler’ up to either RAW or SmackDown, and it seems one WWE Hall of Famer agrees.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame Podcast, NXT commentator Booker T said that Oba Femi is ready to move to WWE’s main roster and believes the best time for him to make that step is now.

“I can tell you this, Oba has done a hell of a job in NXT, and if it is time for him to move on it’s the right time. If we was to stay in NXT, what else is there for Oba Femi to do? He’s dominated. One thing with the main roster is they always say ‘do we have anything for you?’ Everything is kind of set right now, so is it a good time for Oba to debut on the main roster? Hold him in the wings and then boom when he does make that big debut it would be a big thing, but do you wanna sit Oba until January? I agree either way, I think Oba can make a big splash on the main roster right now. He’s done everything he could possibly do in NXT. I think it’s time to pull the trigger. I’m not one to book the show, which is why I’m so reluctant to even say it, but I really think Oba Femi can fit in on the main roster, especially with the right players around him to teach him how to be a main event player. Guys like Randy Orton, guys like CM Punk, guys like Roman Reigns, to be around those guys right now is invaluable for someone like Oba Femi.”

Dave Meltzer reported earlier this month in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Oba Femi remains part of NXT’s plans despite dropping the title, although WWE often keeps main roster call-ups under wraps. You can read more about that here.

Oba Femi has recently been working the NXT Live circuit with Omos. The ‘Nigerian Giant’ recently said he knew the pair had chemistry from the first time they shared a locker room. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Oba Femi as soon as we hear more.
