CM Punk thinks he’s never been better.

Having had his first match on the independent scene in 1997, CM Punk is one of the most experienced wrestlers in the world today. While he began a seven-year absence from the industry in 2014, ‘The Second City Saint’ is known for memorable stints with ROH, AEW and WWE, though, while fans will have varying opinions on which period of his career they prefer, Punk has now called his current run the best of his career.

In a new interview with KSL News Utah, CM Punk said that, despite his age, he feels as if he’s currently doing his best work.

“I’m fortunate that I’m continuing to level up in this business. I just turned 47 the other day, and some people would say that’s a detriment; I think it’s one of the more positive things about me. I’m ‘this old’ and operating on this level, doing what to me is the best work of my career.”

Up next for Punk is Saturday Night’s Main Event. Tomorrow, the Chicagoan will take on Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship, as ‘The Straight Edge Saviour’ looks to reclaim the title he held for just a matter of minutes at SummerSlam.

Also on the card, Drew McIntyre will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, though it was recently revealed the match was initially set to take place at a different Premium Live Event. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on CM Punk as soon as we hear more.
