High praise from Seth Rollins to John Cena.

On December 13, John Cena’s WWE career will come to an end at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. WWE Superstars past and present have been paying tribute to the record-setting seventeen-time former world champion ahead of his retirement, and another of Cena’s former rivals has now joined that list.

Appearing on Good Morning Football, former World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins praised John Cena’s recent Intercontinental Championship victory, describing him as both an exceptional performer and an outstanding person.

“Just won the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career this past Monday on RAW, beating ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio. He’s a Grand Slam Champion, — John is a great friend. He is one of the greatest to ever do it. You can stack him against The Rock, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan — any of the Mount Rushmores, John Cena is on them. He’s a great human being. He’s been a mentor to me… John, hats off to you. A great career, a better friend, better performer. You’re the best, dude. I love you.”

A tournament is underway to decide John Cena’s final opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event next month, with reports suggesting that fellow former World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER is currently expected to face him.

The event is also expected to feature several NXT talents, an idea proposed by Cena himself as part of his goal to leave the wrestling industry in a better state than when he entered it. You can read more about that here.

Seth Rollins, meanwhile, is currently sidelined after undergoing shoulder surgery for an injury that Cody Rhodes recently confirmed occurred during their match at Crown Jewel: Perth. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on John Cena’s retirement tour as soon as we hear more.
