‘Der Ringgeneral’ is not bothered by your opinion.

Following the conclusion of The Last Time is Now tournament, GUNTHER will face John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 in what will be the record-setting seventeen-time former world champion’s retirement match.

In an interview with Joseph Staszewski for New York Post Sports, GUNTHER revealed that he is unfazed by those claiming he should not be the one to retire John Cena and said he is happy to have the chance to rile up the Cenation.

“I’m not bothered. I went out on RAW on Monday to send a few words towards [Cena] as the only chance I had, and I could feel that energy from the audience where it’s kind of like they don’t want me to stand there and claim that for me. But I enjoyed it. I think that’s great. That’s what I’m here for, to antagonize people. If they are antagonized, which they seem to be, then I succeeded, and I thrive off that.”

Certain sections of the WWE Universe are not the only ones critical of the decision to have GUNTHER face Cena in his final match, as John Cena Sr. recently voiced his disapproval over the booking choice. You can read more about that here.

Elsewhere during the interview, GUNTHER revealed that he’s expecting more from his match with John Cena than he got from Goldberg in the summer. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Saturday Night’s Main Event as soon as we hear more.
