Yet another Bullet Club member could be heading to the States.
With New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 20 drawing closer, January is set to be a significant month for the promotion, as many talent contracts are typically due to expire at the start of the year.
Fightful Select are now reporting that David Finlay’s NJPW contract is set to expire soon, with the 32-year-old expected to explore his options in the United States.
“Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that David Finlay’s New Japan contract is set to expire “in the near future.” Based on what we’ve heard, Finlay is looking to explore his options, especially in America, as there is interest from companies.”

The report also notes that Finlay is still expected to work additional dates for NJPW following Wrestle Kingdom 20 on January 4.
After first appearing for New Japan Pro Wrestling in the 2015 Best of the Super Juniors tournament before later being introduced as a Young Lion, Finlay has risen through the ranks of the promotion over the past decade and now stands as a former two-time IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion.
With his father Fit Finlay and brother Brogan Finlay both currently signed to WWE as a trainer and an active performer respectively, the latter competing on NXT as Uriah Connors, speculation is likely to grow that Orlando could be his next destination, although any interest from WWE, AEW or elsewhere remains unclear.
Regarding suggestions that New Japan Pro Wrestling contracts typically expire in January, the report clarifies that this is not always the case. Several NJPW talents worked without contracts for extended periods in 2025 before re-signing on one year deals, while others agreed new terms at various points throughout the January period.
David Finlay is set to team with his Bullet Club War Dogs stablemates Gabe Kidd and Drilla Moloney, alongside the Unaffiliated duo of Hiromu Takahashi and Shingo Takagi, at Wrestle Kingdom 20 at the Tokyo Dome on January 4. They will face United Empire’s Callum Newman, Great O-Khan, and HENARE, as well as Andrade and another partner yet to be revealed.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on David Finlay’s NJPW contract status and future plans as soon as we hear more.
