Powerhouse Hobbs seems to be switching AEW for WWE.

In the January 12, 2026, edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE are high on Powerhouse Hobbs. Now, it seems as if the 34-year-old’s AEW tenure has come to an end and he’s set to make the move elsewhere.

According to a new update from Fightful Select released on January 14, it’s believed Powerhouse Hobbs’ AEW deal expired at midnight and WWE sources believe he’s set to join the company.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that Hobbs’ AEW contract is set to expire at midnight. WWE sources that Fightful Select spoke to claim that he is expected to join the company. He is contractually eligible to do so as of this week.

Fightful note that AEW had made a ‘huge’ offer for Hobbs to stay after the two sides had been negotiating for a number of months, with the star leaving the company on good terms after allowing his deal to expire.

Initially signing in 2020, Hobbs leaves AEW as a former TNT Champion and one-third of the current World Trios Champions, though The Opps are set to defend their gold against Hangman Page and JetSpeed on this Saturday’s pre-taped Collision.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Powerhouse Hobbs leaving AEW for WWE as soon as we hear more.
