Big E currently considers himself retired.
On the March 11, 2022, edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Big E suffered fractures of his C1 and C6 vertebrae which has taken him out of action for almost four years as of the time of writing. During his career, the former WWE Champion was one of the most popular stars in the company, leading many fans to hope that we’ll see the New Day member return to the ring in the future. However, it now appears as if Big E is effectively retired.
Speaking to Compas on the Beat, Big E confirmed that he considers himself retired, saying he’s currently focused on other things.
“I’m content. In wrestling, never say never, but right now I’m retired. That, for me, is it. I’m focused on other things right now,”
-Big E
While he’s stayed away from competition, Big E has stayed active in WWE by performing as an analyst for the company, appearing on panels both pre and post events. As he mentions, you can truly never say never with regard to a retired wrestler’s future, but it now seems as if we’ve likely seen the last of Big E’s days as an in-ring talent.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Big E’s WWE future as soon as we hear more.
