The AEW crowd made their opinions known.
This past Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite closed with MJF facing Brody King in an AEW World Championship Eliminator match. Before the bell rang, the Las Vegas crowd broke into a “Fuck ICE” chant, a sentiment King has previously echoed on social media.
Speaking to Ross Tucker of DraftKings in a new interview, MJF addressed the moment and pointed out that, unlike what some other promotions might have done in the situation, AEW chose not to censor the crowd.
“Literally last night, we were in Vegas and they started a ‘Fuck ICE’ chant. I don’t care what side of the political line that you land on. There’s no other wrestling promotion that wouldn’t censor the fans. We don’t do that. We’re the listening company. So, if all the fans want to chant that, we’re going to let them chant that. I think that is inherently really cool and awesome. I think that’s what makes my company special. We don’t censor the fans. It’s nice. It’s very nice.”

The moment generated buzz across social media beyond the professional wrestling bubble, with nationwide demonstrations under way opposing both United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Trump administration.
Following interference from Adam Page, Brody King defeated MJF in one minute and seventeen seconds, earning himself an AEW World Championship match at AEW Grand Slam: Australia on February 14.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for MJF as soon as we hear more.
