MJF says WWE remain interested in him.
Particularly during MJF’s first reign as AEW World Champion, he’d often be heard on-screen talking about his contract status. The 29-year-old made a point of mentioning ‘the bidding war of 2024’ as he wanted fans to know when his deal was set to expire. As it happened, the star re-signed with All Elite Wrestling, but he’s now revealed that WWE maintain interest.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, MJF recalled having calls with higher-ups in WWE when his deal was expiring. Here, he notes that their previous interest still remains today.
“You know the answer, there was a lot. I had some nice calls with some nice folks who are high up on the chain, and they were interested in me. They’re still very much so interested in me, and I understand why. But for all my faults, one thing I am not is unprofessional. If you put a contract in front of me with the right amount of money, I’m going to do this. I’m going to broadcast how important those three letters are. Those three letters are just as important as these, because you’re paying me to say that. Now, do I believe it’s true? You’ll never know, and that’s the beauty of it. No matter what promotion I’m working for, I’m going to shamelessly shill what’s going on. Now, can I look in the camera and say I really do believe everything I’ve said prior to this? Yes I can, but they’ll never know.”

MJF is currently in the midst of his second reign as AEW World Champion, coming out on top at Worlds End to claim the title. However, with many of the belief that his character would work well in WWE, it’s likely that rumours of a change of company will persist into the future. For now, though, the star remains under contract after inking a new deal in the not-too-distant past.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on MJF’s future as soon as we hear more.
