Swerve Strickland: Just Know We’re All Here Waiting For AJ Styles If He Decides To Jump To AEW

Swerve Strickland says the roster are ready and waiting if AJ Styles was to go to AEW.
Since AJ Styles lost to GUNTHER at the Royal Rumble with his career on the line, fans have been scratching their heads wondering if ‘The Phenomenal One’ genuinely retired from in-ring competition, with some speculation swirling that the 48-year-old could still wrestle outside the company. In particular,
While appearing at Monopoly Events, Strickland was asked whether he wants a match with AJ Styles. Here, Swerve expresses how much he’s studied Styles through the year, saying everyone in AEW is ready and waiting if AJ chooses to make the jump.
“At this point, I think I’m becoming something that AJ Styles wants to compete against instead. I’m pushing myself to be at the top of this game. So, I’m not chasing after anybody’s matches. I want those matches to chase after me now. Happy for AJ. Proud of AJ. He’s someone I studied endlessly. Him alongside Bryan Danielson and those guys like that in that era. Nigel [McGuinness], I looked up to those guys and watched those guys, and AJ’s earned more than enough in his career to walk away from it or continue on and do something different and unique with the generation of guys that he’s curated and kind of spawned who we are. His influence kind of spawned an AEW style. So, if he wants to take a chance to come over to AEW, which he is more than capable and more than healthy, and in great shape mentally, hopefully, and physically from what I view, to compete with All Elite Wrestling. Just know we’re all here, open, waiting if he decides to make that jump.”

On this, it was recently revealed that Styles had been discussed within both AEW and NJPW amid questions over his future. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on AJ Styles as soon as we hear more.
