AJ Lee Says She’s Been Having Fun With Her Return To The Ring, Trying Not To Plan Too Far Ahead

AJ Lee is embracing every moment of her WWE return.
The September 5 edition of Friday Night SmackDown saw AJ Lee make her return to WWE after more than a decade away from the ring, as she reunited with her husband CM Punk before the pair went on to defeat Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at Wrestlepalooza on September 20.
Appearing on WWE Now’s Elimination Chamber Recap, AJ Lee reflected on her approach to returning to the ring, noting that she has been able to enjoy the experience by taking things one step at a time.
“I’m keeping very kind to myself and to my heart, and just saying, ‘I’m not expecting anything. I’m not gonna plan too far ahead. I’m just gonna give every moment my best and maybe every moment is my last moment, but I’m gonna try and make it count.’ I kind of thought I was just gonna come in, have this fun tag match, and I was gonna defend my husband’s honor. I just am having so much fun. I keep coming back. We’ll see what happens, but this has been such a blast and just really cool. Really healing in a lot of ways, too.”

Last night’s Elimination Chamber PLE in Chicago, Illinois, saw AJ Lee defeat Becky Lynch to capture the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship in her first singles match since March 2015.
Elsewhere during the show, CM Punk retained the World Heavyweight Championship with a victory over Finn Bálor, while Rhea Ripley and Randy Orton punched their tickets to WrestleMania 42 by winning their respective Elimination Chamber matches.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for AJ Lee as soon as we hear more.
