Big E Reveals He’s Turned Down Offers To Do WWE Commentary

Big E has turned down the chance to be a commentator in WWE.

Last month, while speaking to Compas on the Beat, former WWE Champion Big E officially announced his retirement from the ring almost four years on from suffering fractures of his C1 and C6 vertebrae on SmackDown in 2022. While active, the star was one of the most charismatic members of the roster, leading many to wonder whether a career behind the commentary desk could lie ahead for Big E. However, it now looks like that’s not the case.

Appearing on The Takedown On SI, Big E revealed he’s turned down offers to do commentary in order to stay away from the busy travel schedule.

“I will say I think the idea of being on the road every single week for an extended period of time is something that I’m not really open to doing right now. And God bless the amount of people who’ve come to me and or even tweeted at WWE, ‘Get him on commentary. He deserves to be on commentary.’ Look, I’ve been approached multiple times by people within the company, people who’ve gone to bat for me … But once you’re able to get off that hamster wheel and you realize that man, I have my weekends back again or when I first started dating Kristen, my fiancee, I was able to come out for a chunk of 10 days for two weeks and man, life is good out here. Life is good off the grind.”

Big E can still be seen working for WWE on both pre and post-show panels, particularly around Premium Live Events. Importantly, the 40-year-old has discussed being pain-free in the years after his serious neck injury, and we continue to wish him well moving forward.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Big E as soon as we hear more.
