Rey Mysterio Gives Update On WWE Injury Status Following Fractured Ribs

Rey Mysterio has reflected on the injury he suffered on the January 26 WWE RAW.
On the January 26 edition of Monday Night RAW, just under a week before the Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio took on Austin Theory. Unfortunately for the WWE Hall of Famer, he suffered a rib injury which saw the referee hold up the infamous ‘X’ symbol to wave off the match. Now, the 51-year-old has provided an update on his injury status after a brief absence from the ring.
Appearing on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, Mysterio confirmed he’s feeling better weeks removed from the injury, noting that he’s on the up.
“Much better than when it actually happened. That injury occurred on January [26], which was the Monday leading into the Rumble. Fractured ribs, both left and right. So those take a little but of time to heal, but on the way up.”
-Rey Mysterio
Despite the fractured ribs, Mysterio still travelled to Saudi Arabia for the men’s Royal Rumble match later that week. As advertised, the star competed to earn a WrestleMania title shot, although he was eliminated by Oba Femi less than three minutes after entering the ring.
Mysterio hasn’t returned to competition since January 31, and, with no word on when he’ll next appear, it looks increasingly likely he’ll miss WrestleMania 42.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Rey Mysterio’s injury status as soon as we hear more.
