WWE reportedly originally planned for Roman Reigns to reference CM Punk’s late dog Larry on RAW.

On last night’s WWE RAW, Roman Reigns and CM Punk came face to face for the first time since the World Heavyweight Champion made mention of Reigns’ dead father on March 3. With many waiting to see how ‘The Tribal Chief’ would respond to the personal dig, some fans wondered if he could retaliate by bringing up Larry, Punk’s recently deceased dog. However, Reigns instead focused on Punk’s age, leaving a portion of viewers wanting more from the segment. Now, the latest has emerged on WWE’s original plans for RAW.

According to Bodyslam, it’s believed the original direction would’ve seen Roman Reigns reference Larry on last night’s show.

Sources indicate to Bodyslam that this was not the original creative direction for the segment. The original creative direction would have seen Roman respond to Punk’s comments about his father with a darker response about Larry.”

As yet, it’s unclear why the segment was changed, or whether it’s something the company will go back to before their match at WrestleMania 41. At present, there’s just over a month to go until Punk and Reigns meet in Las Vegas, leaving the company with four episodes of RAW to continue to build momentum ahead of this year’s spectacle.

Their clash will close night two and is set to mark Roman Reigns’ 11th WrestleMania main event, while CM Punk will be adding to his first ‘Mania closing match which came last year on WrestleMania Saturday. That night, both Punk and Reigns ended up on the losing end as Paul Heyman betrayed them both to side with Seth Rollins.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the build to CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns as soon as we hear more.
