John Cena Says He May Have Figured Out His Next Role With WWE

John Cena may soon have a new role with WWE.
On December 13, 2025, John Cena officially retired from professional wrestling following his final match with GUNTHER at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena. Cena has since confirmed that he remains under contract with WWE for another five years in an ambassador role, though he has now teased that he may have found a way to contribute further to the company.
While speaking at MEGACon Orlando (via Kickin’ It With Keegan), Cena revealed that he is working on a new role with WWE and is hopeful that it will work out.
“I am working diligently to try to figure out my next path as a contributing, useful member of WWE. I think I might crack the code and I think we have something. And if the stars align and everybody signs off, I will be a whole lot more integrated in the system, and I’m very excited about the road ahead. I’m just crossing my fingers that it works.”

While WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported last month that John Cena is not expected to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, BodySlam recently revealed that WWE would like Cena to induct AJ Styles next month in Las Vegas.
Following John Cena’s retirement, many of the record-setting seventeen time world champion’s former rivals have opened up about their time working with him. Chris Masters recently revealed that Cena locked him in a real STFU when he used the move for the first time back in 2005. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on John Cena’s future with WWE as soon as we hear more.
