Toni Storm being written off of AEW programming reportedly isn’t to do with injury.

On the March 18 edition of AEW Dynamite, Toni Storm was seen laid out having been ambushed backstage before her scheduled match. Following the show, it emerged via Fightful Select that the company expect the star to be out of action through 2026, and questions still remain over her current status. Now, more has emerged regarding Storm’s AEW absence.

According to an update from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, it’s believed Toni Storm isn’t suffering with an injury, with it noted she was preparing to wrestle up until Wednesday morning.

“On the Toni Storm thing, it appears she’s not gonna be wrestling for a long, long time, and this was something that they found out on Wednesday. It was not an injury or anything like that. On Wednesday, she’s there. She is set up to wrestle in this match, and they had to do this emergency angle to take her out and put Mina Shirakawa in. They, on the day, on Wednesday, earliest Wednesday morning, certainly all day Tuesday, they were under the impression that she was going to be wrestling.”

‘The Timeless One’ was initially scheduled to take on Marina Shafir later in the show, but Storm’s tag team partner Mina Shirakawa had to step in, and questions still remain over who attacked the four-time Women’s World Champion. With Storm set for an extended period on the sidelines, it remains to be seen as to how the story of her mystery attacker will play out, particularly as the segment left clues to a myriad of possible culprits, including the likes of Mercedes Moné and Hikaru Shida among many more.

At Revolution, Storm came face to face with former UFC and WWE star Ronda Rousey. While any potential match between the pair is now off the table, a recent report indicated a possible reason behind Rousey’s shock appearance in All Elite Wrestling on March 15. You can read more about that here.
