The Miz: People Like Oba Femi Mean It’s Harder Than Ever To Be On The WWE WrestleMania Card

The Miz has high praise for the next crop of talent in WWE, particularly Oba Femi.

At present, few in WWE have the buzz around them that Oba Femi has. The 27-year-old was one of the most dominant champions in NXT’s history, with the star vacating the brand’s top title in order to move up to the main roster. Since his arrival on RAW, he’s captured the imagination of viewers worldwide, and the Nigerian is now just over two weeks away from a mammoth clash against ‘The Beast’ Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. Now, The Miz has discussed how the new generation of wrestlers mean it’s harder for the rest of the roster to appear at the ‘Show Of Shows’.

Speaking to Esteban Ramirez, The Miz opened up on WWE’s up and coming talent making it harder to get on WrestleMania.

“It’s harder than ever to literally try to be on the card of WrestleMania 42. And the reason being is there are so many superstars, so many new and upcoming superstars that have just been blowing the roof off the place. Oba Femi, like, it is not supposed to happen where a person walks into a WWE arena, whether it’s RAW or SmackDown, and everyone’s chanting your name right off the bat. That just doesn’t happen. It takes time to develop, but he’s developed so quickly and now he’s going up against Brock Lesnar and everyone’s excited about it. Everyone’s talking about it. You look at these new up and coming superstars. They are able to really lock in and do what we do on a fast pace, and it’s very difficult to do. I’ve been excited. It brings a new lease, not on life, but like a new lease, a new excitement for me as a WWE superstar and being here for 20 years.”

Along with Femi, former NXT stars Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans have also recently made an immediate impact on the main roster. The trio are being lauded by many fans as the future of WWE, and all three are set to be featured prominently at WrestleMania.

While Oba’s match with Lesnar will perhaps take the spotlight, Williams will challenge Sami Zayn for the United States Championship and Evans will be one of five participants in a ladder match for the Intercontinental Title, meaning two of the three could leave Las Vegas with gold around their waist:

While The Miz is a former WrestleMania main eventer, ‘The A-Lister’ doesn’t yet have a role on the card. In recent weeks, the 45-year-old has been featured in the storyline between Jelly Roll and Kit Wilson, though it remains to be seen as to whether the rumoured tag team match involving them will be made official.

On the topic of Oba Femi, ‘The Ruler’ was recently listed by Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes as someone who could be one of the company’s next major stars. You can find out who else ‘The American Nightmare’ thinks has a bright future by clicking here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the WWE WrestleMania 42 card as soon as we hear more.
