Those In WWE Reportedly Deny The Rock Is On The Phone To Randy Orton On SmackDown

WWE reportedly deny that The Rock is on the phone to Randy Orton.

On the March 13 edition of SmackDown, Randy Orton brutalised Cody Rhodes, with his eyes firmly on the Undisputed WWE Championship. The next Monday on RAW, ‘The Viper’ was heard taking to someone on the phone, thanking them for reminding him of who he was. As yet, their identity hasn’t been revealed, leaving fans to come up with various theories of their own as to who Orton could be working with. Now, it appears WWE have shot down rumours that ‘The Final Boss’ is involved.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, those in WWE deny that The Rock is on the phone to Orton.

“As noted, while Dwayne Johnson fits the bill and would be the biggest addition for a show that is behind on ticket sales, those in the company have denied the name to us. As noted before, if it was Johnson, it’s likely to be kept a secret from everyone but Nick Khan, Paul Levesque, and maybe Rhodes and Orton. But my impression is they have a name that at least those in the inner circle are aware of. They could still be working them but they are not of that impression.”

It appears as if we wont have to wait long to find out who Randy Orton is aligning with heading into WrestleMania 42. On April 1, the 46-year-old took to social media suggest the mystery man could be revealed as soon as tonight’s episode of SmackDown. In just a matter of hours, the blue brand will emanate from Orton’s hometown of St. Louis and it sounds as if his associate will be joining him at the show.

In terms of what fans are saying, some speculate that ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair could be on the other end of the phone, tying into their past in Evolution. Alternatively, others are keeping it more modern by suggesting Kevin Owens could be behind the calls. Yet, viewers still don’t have any real indication of who it is, meaning a lot of options are left on the table.
