More has been revealed on when GUNTHER vs. Seth Rollins became the plan for WrestleMania 42.

On this past Monday’s RAW, GUNTHER ambushed Seth Rollins, with it announced shortly afterwards that the pair are set to meet at WrestleMania 42. Many then assumed this meant Bron Breakker wasn’t going to be back from his hernia in time to face ‘The Visionary’ on the ‘Show Of Shows’, though an update from Dave Meltzer on April 1 indicated the 28-year-old had been cleared, with the company opting to change direction ‘several weeks ago’. Now, more has emerged with regard to when GUNTHER became Rollins’ opponent for WrestleMania.

According to a new update from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed plans for Seth Rollins vs. GUNTHER was set around the Elimination Chamber event.

At Elimination Chamber, with Rollins costing Paul the match, that appeared to be the direction. But we were told the Gunther was either right before or right after Chamber, a decision made when Reed went down with the torn biceps. Gunther was most likely to have faced Rey Mysterio. We were told that was discussed, but not in the past several weeks. Mysterio was also injured.”

Although reportedly being cleared, Breakker is yet to return to our screens since suffering a hernia on February 2. At present, it’s unclear as to whether fans can expect the former Intercontinental Champion to feature on the WrestleMania card at all.

While many were caught off guard by the announcement of Rollins vs. GUNTHER, the match is undoubtedly one of the biggest clashes WWE could put on. As two of the company’s top names, WrestleMania 42 will be the first time the two have ever had a singles match.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 42 as soon as we hear more.
