AJ Styles has revealed what he was gifted after his Boneyard match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 36.

At WrestleMania 36, just weeks into the COVID-19 pandemic, WWE staged its biggest show with no fans in attendance. While the lack of a crowd impacted the presentation, it also allowed the company to experiment with cinematic matches that have since become iconic.

To close Night One, AJ Styles faced The Undertaker in the now-famous Boneyard Match, and ‘The Phenomenal One’ has now revealed during the latest episode of his Phenomenally Retro Podcast what his legendary opponent gifted him from their clash.

“After my match with The Undertaker, I asked Michelle [McCool], ‘What can I get him for having that match with me?’ She goes, ‘Just sign your gloves because he would appreciate that more than anything.’ So I signed my gloves. I said, ‘Man, thank you so much,’ and I gave him my gloves. Like a month later, his gloves came in the mail. It says ‘Rest In Peace.’ It’s pretty awesome. So I have The Undertaker’s gloves from his last match. It was pretty awesome that he did that. He definitely didn’t have to do that, but it’s one of my most prized possessions.”

The WrestleMania 36 match between ‘The Phenom’ The Undertaker and ‘The Phenomenal One’ AJ Styles went down as The Undertaker’s final match. While he was not able to bow out in front of a crowd, the 61-year-old officially announced his retirement in November 2020.

While he has stayed absent from the ring since then, the legend has made sporadic non-wrestling appearances for WWE, including when he came out to assist Cody Rhodes in winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40.

Speaking of retirement, AJ Styles surprised many when he himself hung up his boots earlier this year. After stating that 2026 would be his final year competing in the ring, the 48-year-old’s WWE career was brought to an end by GUNTHER at the Royal Rumble in January. As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the boneyard match between AJ Styles and The Undertaker as soon as we hear more.
