Nic Nemeth Says He’s ‘Bummed Out’ Over TNA’s Carlos Silva Pulling Him From MJF Match

Nic Nemeth is disappointed he won’t be wrestling AEW’s MJF.
On April 8, amid TNA President Carlos Silva pulling the company’s talent from matches with wrestlers from other promotions, reports emerged that Nic Nemeth vs. MJF was no longer happening. The clash had been set for Create A Pro Wrestling’s Monumental Moment on May 1, with a back-and-forth on social media leaving many fans excited to see the former WWE star take on the AEW World Champion. Now, Nemeth himself has discussion the cancellation of the match.
Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Nic Nemeth said he was ‘bummed out’ that the match it off, though he left the door open for it to happen down the line.
“I was really looking forward to this. I was really excited, but yes. As of yesterday, as I was flying in, I found out because of certain partnerships and brands, TNA President Carlos Silva had to make a difficult decision and protect a couple of brands down the line and things that are actually contractually obligated to happen. Can’t just kind of do whatever we want, even though I think some things were approved at a different time when it became the situation that it is now with a couple of different things happening at once… I’m crushed because I was very much looking forward to doing this, but it’s unable to happen at the moment. I hate that it had to come out this way. I hate that this wasn’t all taken care of in the past, but that’s something we can all work on. I got to start reading some fine print and we have to protect people that we actually work with and we have partnerships with. Usually I’m pretty great about that, so I’ll stay on that for everything that we do. I’m bummed out. I’m gonna try and make this match happen one day, and hopefully soon. But at the moment, it is currently not happening.”

Despite the match no longer taking place, both men are still expected to compete at the Create A Pro event next month. Revisions to the card include Nic Nemeth vs. Bear Bronson and MJF holding an open challenge. The show will also feature Kris Statlander vs. Gabby Forza.
With Nemeth giving his take on the change to the card, his originally scheduled opponent also appeared on Busted Open Radio to discuss the cancellation of his Create-A-Pro match, and it’s fair to say MJF didn’t hold back on TNA’s Carlos Silva. You can read more on that here.
TNA’s change of heart is also reportedly having an impact on unannounced matches, as it’s believed Moose was set to face an AEW wrestler at April 18’s MLP show before the company could get it finalised. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on TNA as soon as we hear more.
