Shawn Michaels Says He Wishes He Could’ve Had Je’Von In NXT For Longer

Shawn Michaels wishes he had more time to work with Je’Von Evans in NXT.
Earlier this year, a number of NXT standouts made their way to the main roster, including Trick Williams, Oba Femi, and Je’Von Evans. With Evans now standing out as one of WWE Raw’s fastest-rising stars, Shawn Michaels admitted that he wished he had more time with ‘The Young OG’ during his run in NXT.
Ahead of the release of his new documentary, ‘The Heartbreak Kid: Becoming Shawn Michaels.’, Shawn Michaels joined The Ringer Wrestling Show, where he was asked if there was ever an NXT star he was desperate to keep hold of for longer.
“Not forever because you’re not doing a good job if you got them forever. But certainly, Je’Von obviously was somebody… I was begging like, ‘Can we just keep him for another six months?’ From an NXT standpoint, we were in our minds going to build around Je’Von for the next year, and that was kind of the model. And they’re like, ‘Oh, no, we’re taking him, too.’ I pushed back a little bit and was like, ‘Just six months?’ ‘No.’ Three?’ ‘No.’ Alright, fair enough. If that’s the worst news you have to have is that they’re taking too many of your people, that means we’re doing a pretty good job. And that’s something that we always have to remember.”
