Will Ospreay Says His Biggest Challenge Will Be Bringing Pay-Per-View Quality Post-Surgery

Will Ospreay hopes to bring pay-per-view quality to AEW Dynasty.

Last time Will Ospreay wrestled on pay-per-view was last August at Forbidden Door. The Brit took part in a 10-man Lights Out Steel Cage match at the O2 Arena in London, though he wasn’t able to emerge from the contest unscathed. After the bout had ended, ‘The Aerial Assassin’ was attacked by the Death Riders, allowing him time off our screens to have neck surgery, with tonight’s AEW Dynasty being his first in-ring appearance at a pay-per-view in almost eight months.

While speaking to Josh Martinez, Ospreay was asked what he thinks will be the most challenging thing about returning to pay-per-view. Here, Will spoke honestly about wanting to deliver a worthy match.

“I think honestly the thing that I’m most concerned about is just that pay-per-view quality that I was able to bring back in 2023 to 2024, and even at the start of 2025. I always had a style of excellence when it came to my pay-per-view quality matches. This will be my first pay-per-view back where I will be in a very different formulated match where there is a time limit. There is stipulations added to it. So now it is just relying upon my ability and my skill that I’ve learned throughout so many years of wrestling that I hope I can just deliver to the fans something that they can all be happy with.”

Ospreay is heading into tonight off the back of three consecutive wins. After defeating Blake Christian in his return match, the star eked out a victory over PAC on April 1, and most recently teamed up with his United Empire stablemates to take down the Death Riders in ‘Chaos in Canada’.

However, despite the recent four-on-four match on this week’s Dynamite, the Continental Championship’s rules mean everyone is banned from ringside for the clash at Dynasty. This leaves Ospreay the chance to pick up his second singles title in AEW without the threat of interference from Jon Moxley’s faction.

Elsewhere in the interview, Ospreay said he thinks AEW should run a stadium show when WWE takes WrestleMania 43 to Saudi Arabia. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Will Ospreay as soon as we hear more.
