CM Punk Discusses Making Peace With Triple H

CM Punk was inspired by two WWE Hall of Famers to reach out to Triple H.

On November 25, 2023, CM Punk made his shocking return to WWE after nearly a decade away. Many had long considered Punk returning to WWE to be extremely unlikely, partly due to the real-life tension between himself and Triple H, however a moment of perspective led CM Punk to reach out and open the door to his comeback.

Appearing on All the Smoke ahead of WrestleMania 42, CM Punk opened up on what led to him making peace with Triple H prior to his return to WWE.

“My favorite thing is when Triple H isn’t at RAW. Not because the boss is away. It’s because I know he’s at a daddy/daughter dance or at his daughter’s football game. It’s wholesome. We’ve had the conversations. It’s how we got to a point where, ‘What’s it look like? Can we get you to come back?’ After a while, I reached out to Triple H and I was just like… I knew he had this heart condition thing. I had seen a clip of Hogan and the Warrior, and everything we do is filmed. So ‘what’s real, what’s not.’ And it’s Hogan, so you don’t know what’s the truth. But they’re just having this conversation and they’re kind of apologizing and forgiving each other. And then a couple days later, Ultimate Warrior dies. It just made me realize this sh*t ain’t worth it and I don’t care.”

CM Punk is set to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns in the main event of Night Two of WrestleMania 42 on April 19 at Allegiant Stadium.
